As I am putting my pen to paper, it is the final day to vote for the Herald & Review Reader’s Choice Awards. If you know me at all, you know I am loyal to a fault and I spend a majority of my money at local businesses. I take this so far that I refuse to eat at the new Chipotle location because I’d rather go to Solsa! It’s ok. You can laugh at me. I know it’s a little ridiculous.
Scrolling through my social media feeds, I have seen an outpouring of support for local businesses and people in Decatur. This makes me so proud of our city! Supporting our friends, especially in local businesses, is vital not only to our city’s economy, but our community as a whole.
In an entrepreneurial career like real estate, it is so important to have support from our friends and family in the area! I am in my fourth year as a real estate agent, but I couldn’t have made it this far without key members of my family spreading the word about me and my business. I owe a special thanks to my sister, Michelle Reynolds and my parents, Mark and Debbie Reynolds. They did an exceptional job of telling their friends and passing out business cards even to people who probably didn’t want them.
I am also extremely grateful to all of my friends at Renaissance Church, at Big Brothers Big Sisters, the schools where I have coached basketball, and all of my other friends in the Decatur community who have supported my business. A person who speaks positively to someone about me and my business is more valuable than any marketing I can spend money on.
So if you take anything away from my first blog, it’s this: continue to support your friends and family in all that they do, ESPECIALLY if they are involved in a local business here in Decatur. It is the people in our community that make it truly special, and I’m here to tell you, they appreciate your support more than you know.
